Whats the difference between savings account and checkings account?

Okay.. I have a checkings account and a savings account. If I am going to deposit money, which one would be better?|||Savings account have restrictions to your withdrawals while checking accounts don't. However..with savings account you can earn interest but very little|||Savings accounts pay interest but often there are restrictions on how quickly you can receive cash. In checking accounts there is less restrictions on withdrawal but there is no interest. So like a debit card is for a checking account since you can instantly spend it. There is little difference between them today since for many things you can just quickly transfer it or withdraw without a problem.

You used to have to notify the bank days in advance that you want to withdraw money and then checking accounts arose.

Today there is little difference between savings accounts and checking other than you get a debit card or checks with a checking account. It used to be where savings accounts were more like CDs are today.
