How long does a Youtube account take to delete completelyso i can use its username?

I asked someone to delete their YouTube account so I could use their username. They did this and whenever I look at the youtube channel it says "this account is closed". Yet when I try to make an account with the username it says "Username Unavailable" How long will it take to completely delete the account?

It could takes hours, days, weeks, or perhaps a year. You could contact youtube directly and inquiry the process to be handled promptly.
